Reagent Kit Filling and Preparation

Automated preparation and filling of laboratory tube kits.

Application Overview

Automated kit preparation enables the reliable and reproducible filling of laboratory tubes with defined liquid volumes. This workflow is commonly used for the preparation of reagent kits, calibration sets or predefined sample containers used in analytical and diagnostic laboratories.

In many applications, so-called micro screw tubes from manufacturers such as Sarstedt or similar suppliers are used. These tubes can be processed either with pre-mounted caps or supplied separately using an optional cap feeder, allowing fully automated handling of screw caps during the preparation process.

During operation, the Lab-Bot automatically picks a tube from the rack and transports it to the multifunction unit. If the tube is closed, the screw cap is removed first. The tube can then be labeled while the integrated peristaltic pump simultaneously dispenses the defined liquid volume into the vessel.

After filling, the tube is securely closed again and returned to the rack. Optional process control weighing can be performed to verify the dispensed volume and document the filling process.

By combining tube handling, labeling, filling and optional verification weighing within one structured workflow, automated kit preparation ensures consistent product quality while significantly reducing manual preparation effort.

Typical Use Cases

Workflow Description

Pick
A tube is picked from the source rack and transported to the processing position.
Labeling
The tube is labeled.
Filling
The tube is filled.
Optional Weighing
The tube can be weighed to determine its current mass as part of the registration process.
Place
Based on the identification and optional measurement, a target rack or position is selected and the tube is transported and placed accordingly.
